Pop up shorts cuts problem

I can't type certain keyboard letters without an application popping up. (I'm typnig this from a different computer) For example, I hit the "f" and the find box pops up, the "r" the run box, "m" mininmizes...
How do I turn that off in windows 98?

Welcome to CTH.

I don't know offhand what setting would make that happen. It sounds like a Windows key is stuck. Try to pull them up or bang on them to loosen. If that doesn't work you can try a different keyboard and see if that makes it stop.

It's also possible you've enabled "Sticky keys". Try hitting the shift key 5 times and check. If it makes it worse by enabling Sticky keys when it wasn't already enabled, then hit the shift key 5 times again to disable.
