social worker needs help!!

Today for some reason, my documents think they are opening and they are not!! I go to Docs, Pick one and click and it won't appear. I feel like its a dumb thing like a pressed a wrong button. It does ask me if I want to "revert to the saved ...." but the doc itself never opens ( something flies to the top of my screen when I click on The Microsoft Word button in the taskbar). Can anyone help??

It's 97. When I clink on the Word program icon, the Word cover page open briefly, goes to my Task bar and thats it. nothing will actually appear on my screen. I get the feeling that it's there somewhere, hiding
