OK i have sbc has my isp provider . they gave me a 1701 hg wire modem i have to wireless lab tops they both use belkin wireless cards. i have a hp laser jet 4 printer. i am trying to print to this lab top from both my lab tops. wirelessly. they told me to use the yellow wire supplied from them. them is sbc. and plug it in to the printer in the back and then into the 2wire modem. but it does not work? please help i need to resolve this issue please help. both lab tops use windows xp and have 512 ram. i would need step by step instructions to do this.

Lets see if I understand this... are you plugging your printer into the modem? If that is the case then nothing will work.
how are your laptops connected to the modem? You said you use wireless, so what router/wap do you use?

Lets see if I understand this... are you plugging your printer into the modem? If that is the case then nothing will work.
how are your laptops connected to the modem? You said you use wireless, so what router/wap do you use?
Hmmm! Not sure why you said this won't work. I believe the laserjet has built-in ethernet and it is a wireless router so the laptop should be able to connect to the printer via the router. The thing is to get the printer and laptops configured correctly.
SG - Do you have internet access from both laptops? (just want to make sure they are on the network correctly...;) ) When the printer is connected to the router have you printed out a status page and checked to see if it got an IP address?

YES I HAVE BOTH ON THE INTERNET. MAN I MNOT EVEN ON THE NETWORK I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO Anything nothing man i m sorry i need help what is a stautus page

The reason it wouldn't work is because the Printer would be the only device connected to the internet which to me is very counter productive.

If you are using the internet you have a network and the basic network functionality is working. Do you have a manual for the printer? So printers print out a config page when they are powered up?

What exact model printer do you have (4, 4si,4m,...)? Maybe someone can come up with the manual.
