Help! I would like to make a network peer to peer connection using my three computers - laptop, desktop in the bedroom and another downstairs using a cat 5 cables/wire connection. How can I do this. i have seen it with some dude but he is not willing to advice me.

You cannot make a peer to peer connection with 3 computers, a peer to peer network is, by definition, between two computers only. You need to connect each PC to a network device - either a hub, switch, or router (routers are mostly used these days). If you want to share an internet connection, I recommend a router, otherwise go for a switch.

Once you have a router/switch, you connect each computer to a plug on the router/switch. If you got a router, connect your modem to the router's WAN plug (and be sure to enter the router settings page to configure it). A switch is more or less plug & play. If running Windows XP, run the Network Setup Wizard (in Control Panel) on each PC, ensuring to give each the same Workgroup name, but a unique Computer name.
