I want them both to have internet access and be able to share files. I connected them with a kvm switch also so the client could click back and forth between the computers. He currently has internet access via the router, but I was unsuccessful in getting him to be able to file share and I also want to share the same printer. One PC has XP Pro and the other has 2000.
What do you suggest? Thanks guys.

Welcome :)
First thing to try is the Windows XP Networking Wizard. It should setup the PC for file sharing and permissions.
You can create a disk to use in the 2000 PC.

Then on the 2000 Machine goto Network Places and browse through the workgroup to see if the XP machine is listed and if the Shared Folder or Documents forlder is listed.

why do you have the kvm switch? what what you said, its not needed. Basically it will go from modem to router to both computers. Connect the printer on one computer, and you should be able to print on it from the other. You will have to have the proper printer drivers installed on both computers.
as previously mentioned use the network wizard

He wanted to be able to switch between the two computers. I see that you are right though.
Thanks.
