Good find on a thread, for me that is.

Spider, your link to a Dell page with the router did take me to Dell's home page, but not to anything to do with this particular router. Perhaps they have changed the link? I will poke around in their somemore and see if I can find their search function.

I am now sitting here with one of these exact same routers sitting in front of me I found laying around in an unused office. The Dell WRTA-108GD. We have a net but since we are a small company we use a consultant that comes in as needed for our IT stuff. We have a wireless net here in the office, but my office is too far away from the wireless transmitter for my laptop to pick up on. I have to plug my laptop into the cable to get on the net which is very limiting. I would like to use this router to make my office wireless.

My questions are these, can I just take my wire(The cable that plugs into my computer to give me access to the company net) and plug it into this modem and make my office space wireless? Will doing this interfere somehow with the buildings net? How do I get into the modem to make it encrypted? I wouldn't want some casual passers by getting access to my modem.

I'm going to move this out of the other member's thread since your expecting answers to your questions.
The original thread you posted in is here (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=624625#post624625)

You can add that second wireless router but configuring it requires some out-of-the-ordinary settings.
You turn the second router into what they call an "Access Point" and your notebook (laptop) can connect
that way.
Access points need a "static IP address" [sometimes] and "DHCP disabled". The other router's settings will
possibly need to be changed as well.

Best run this by your IT consultant next conversation you have with them.
