Setup:
I have a DSL from Bellsouth, they give you a modem of course and there are three lights: Ethernet, DSL, and Power. When I am connected to the internet you can look down and see the ethernet light flashing to let me know that I am online. The DSL and Power are suppose to be soild light at all times. I am setup up on a D-Link Router Air Plus Extreme G: DI-624. I have my Xbox plus two of the exact same computers setup on the router, also i have a Mac G4 Powerbook that I sometimes use wireless.
Prelimnary Data:
My brother and me play games all day long, online that is. Well we are starting to have disconnection problems, we will on the online and bam we both get disconnected, and when we do get DC'd I look down and see that my ethernet light has gone completely out for about 3 seconds. The light then flickers back on and I have internet again. It happens all day long, but especially when Im playing Warcraft 3 and he is playing UT2004. I have my firewall set to block all traffic and notify me of any connection attempts, because I believe that there is a program that is trying to connect while we are playing out games which is overloading my ethernet. We have had this problem b4 on my brothers computer and we wiped it clean and the problem went away, now It is because of my computer, at least I am 80% sure it is.
I checked my scheduled task and found something that said Netstat (i think, I dont remember) and it said that in the description that it was suppose to check for updates or something every 5 MINUTES! Of course I deleted it. Well it fixed the problem for the day and now I woke up this mourning and its doing it all over again. I checked my scheduled tasks to make sure it didnt force its way into there again and it didnt. I dont want to wipe my computer cause I have tons of patches, videos (not pirated), games, programs, and a load of personal settings for tons of programs that would take days to reconfigure back to normal and since this is the second time to happen I feel it would be just putting a band aid on a bleeding wound.
Solution:
Plz help!!!:curse:
ALSO IS THERE A WAY I CAN LOG ALL MY DISCONNECTS? Maybe a program that that will allow me to recieve an error report which could help me root out the problem
