Dreaded Red X

I've got the red x instead of pictures, and when I tried to do a search on myspace, the results page was essentially blank. I can't figure out why this suddenly started happening. I downloaded the latest version of Java, but it didn't make any difference. I also checked under tools, advanced, and the "show pictures" box is checked. I'm a real novice, so any help would be appreciated.
