Instead of images - have red square, green circle, blue triangle

I am hoping there is a simple solution. My pc has been working fine but since this morning I have to right click an imbedded box empty except for a rectangle within the imbedded box that
has a red square, a green circle, and a blue triangle. I right click and then click on "show picture". Just to type my post I had to right click 50 plus boxes in order to see what the icons were. I think there might be a conflict between my wanting to use Internet Explorer as my default browser instead of SBC YAHOO! DSL. If I click on their icon and use SBC YAHOO! as my browser I don't have the problem. Will I have to make a choice and use only one or the other as my browser? What can I do to keep IE as my browser and get it to work properly? I would like some opinions as to which is the better one IE or SBC YAHOO! ? If SBC/Yahoo! is the best one then
I'll go with that. Sorry I couldn't be more concise. Thanks for all suggetions.

Clear the IE cache. I.E./Tools/Options/General/Delete files (and delete
offline content.) It's often recommended that the Temporary Internet Files
(folder) be kept at
40-50 MB. .
Also check that
Macromedia Flash killer on
Spywareblaster is not set to block and disable installation and operation of
Marcomedia Flash player.

and check in advanced options that 3rd party browser extensions has a tick to it

you really need to start your own thread in the future instead of posting within old ones.
