Cannot load secure websites?

I have been trying to login to several secure websites such as http://mail.yahoo.com or http://webmail.us.army.mil or http://www.rpgoutfitter.com and consistently recieve a cannot display msg with IE and cannot connect msg with Firefox... i have checked my internet options and settings, and cannot find anything amiss, although it is possible i overlooked something...
i can however log into some sites (of which i assume are less secure?) such as http://www.myspace.com or the non-secure site version of yahoo...
appreciate any help i get

ok... went to that site, tried all methods that pertained to my problem, yet still nothing... security level changes, adding trusted sites, clearing temp files, checked encryption levels, but nothing has worked yet...

Did you check the date and time settings? It's easy to overlook that it's displaying a.m. when it's p.m. and vice versa.

yea, i checked, and since u brought it up, double checked them... time is right...
