Hello everyone!
I just purchased a BT stick, i installed the software for the bluetooth and the software for my Nokia 6230. So, after that in my tray appear new icons, one for the BT (blue and white), one for network that has a red X saying that the network's cable is disconnected (don't know how to say it in English) one icon for the Nokia PC Suite and one that it is Nokia PC Sync. And here it goes, at Bluetooth Settings (on pc) it shows a network which is my phone (ok, this is logical) and when i click connect, it finds the phone and it dials (i don't get this, why would it dial the phone,or is it through the phone to use it as a modem to connect to the Internet?) anyway it finds it and connects for about 5 seconds and after that it disconnects and aytodials again and the same thing happens all over again. When i search from the phone for devices, it finds no devices. Shouldn't the pc's BT be active? I don't get this, shouldn't it be like: 1)find the device, 2)choose to connect and 3)that's it? All i want, is to transfer some data, from the phone to the computer. I looked around in CTH and found some incomplete threads but i also found this z1p posted (sounds like good advice), the problem is i can't figure out where to find theese bluetooth options. Could someone give me a hand please? Sorry for the big post, but i wanted to explain the best i could. [EDIT]: Now i just found out one more thing, every program i have, that has to do with internet, is trying to dial to connect to the internet while i have DSL.Only FF works fine. I thing i messed it up a bit ![]()

What do you have for icons under network connections? Have you checked your internet options to make sure it is set not to dial out?

Hi, thank you for your time for helping me!
Under network connections it reads 1)Dial: and it shows three networks, one is for the mobile phone and the other two... i have no idea, but i guess one of the other two is an old modem the pc was connected when i had dial up. The third one is a mystery to me [EDIT]: All three networks are reading the same thing: "Typical modem 33600 bps" and all of them appear disconnected. 2)Local Network or Highspeed internet: which shows, one network with the red X and it reads "Bluetooth Personal Area Network from TOSHIBA" and one more network which is my SpeedTouch modem (the one i use for my connection) Check my internet options for dialing, you are right i missed that, fixed.

back again.... I'm going to have to wing this a bit as I can't find my BT dongle right now, so I try things out.
Now if I remember correctly, if you right click on the BT icon you can configure the various BT services. Have you tried that yet. I don't think you use the BT network connection for connecting to your phone. Have you enabled BT on your phone? Have you tried initiating a pairing from the phone to the PC? If I remember correctly that is what I did with my wife's phone.

Hey z1p, thanks for responding.
I did try right clicking the icon and it shows the following options: Bluetooth settings: which shows a network with my phones name and the details show my phone's info and settings,(dial up networking, port name COM40 etc) Wireless file transfer: which immediatelly tries to find any BT devices, to transfer from the pc to the phone (it does find the phone). Remote camera: which i guess it is for BT camera (i don't have one) Add new connection: when i click this, it tries to find any new networks, actually at first i did that and it found the phone again and made a new network with the phone's name called " network "phone"(2) ". Deleted it... Device properties and security:This one shows the stick's properties and security settings Service properties:It shows the following options: BT information exchange service (ticked), PAN Networking service (not ticked and i don't know what that is), BT COM port service (ticked), AV Remote control service (not ticked and also don't know what that means) Help: which i read the whole thing and understood most of it (it is quite big) and the exit button. BTW, the BT stick didn't come with a manual, however the help button wasn't very usefull On the phone i have BT activated, it does connect with the pc for about 5 seconds and then it disconnects. When the pc searches for BT devices (from the network icon) it does find the phone and the phone pairs it, but when i search for devices from the phone it doesn't find anything at all. Note: I don't know if this is important or not, but when the pc searches it finds one more device named "???" but the phone itself doesn't find that device. I also understood that when i put the BT stick to the USB port it recognises the BT device and the icon for BT appears (blue white) and one more icon for network with the red X. I don't get that network icon at all. This is the stick in case it makes a difference. Thank you again for your time!

The network icon is if you want to between PCs over BT. I played with the for a while. I had BT on a laptop and my desktop. connected the two over BT and setup ICS on the desktop. I could print, access the internet, etc from the laptop over BT. (Not the fastest connection in the world though).
I don't think your phone would be making use of it though. I'm loosing track here, sorry. What is it that you are trying to do that doesn't work right now? BTW - Who is your phone provider I know some of the wireless phone companies cripple certain features on phones so that you have to use the services they provide (and charge you for).

I'm only trying to transfer some data from the phone to my pc, not access the internet. The pc can't connect with the phone and i don't know how to do this.
My phone provider is TIM in Greece, but i don't think that that has anything to do with it. I allready connected my phone with other mobiles via bluetooth and transfered data from and to the phone succesfully and i don't think that BT has anything to do with the phone company.

SUCCESS !!! ![]() [EDIT]: Sorry for missing the update, actually everything was ok, both the phone and the software installation. All i had to do with the phone, was to navigate to the file i wanted transferred to the pc and choose "Send via BT" to the computer. Sometimes the simple things are the ones that we skip.
