I am having a problem w/ my "start menu". When I click on the "Start" button, my menu pops up but then it pops off right away & I can't access my menu to go to my programs or turn my PC off.
The other thing I need to know is why my curser floats across my screen, usually from left to right. If anyone can help me w/ these problems, I would really appreciate it. Thanx, 1/2alake |

The floating cursor could be as simple as the mouse cord being pushed up against something so when you let go of the mouse, it tries to straighten out and moves the mouse.
Instead of clicking on the Start button, press on one of the Windows keys (located on either side of the space bar between the Ctrl and Alt keys). See if the Start Menu then stays put. |

Thanx so much for all your input into this matter. I checked my mouse cord & it doesn't appear to be pushed up against anything but if the mouse starts floating again that will be something I will definitely check.
At this time, my start menu appears to be working ok since I shut down my PC & turned it back on this AM but if it happens again, I will press the Windows key to see if that helps. I do have 1 more question & I hope you will be able to help me w/ it. When I click on a link to go to a new website, I completely lose the window I was previously in & would like to know how I can stop this from happening. I would like the link to open in a new window & I have that checked in my Internet Options but I still continue to lose the previous window. Any suggestions? |

Do you have any sort of ad blocker or popup stopper installed? If so, it could be blocking all secondary windows instead of just the popups it's supposed to be blocking.
To bypass a popup blocker, hold down the Shift key when clicking on a link that opens in a new window (if that doesn't work, try the Ctrl key) and see if the second window opens. If it does, you'll have identified the culprit. Some links always open in the same window but you can right click a link and left click "Open in new window." The Yahoo Toolbar has also been known to create the problem. |
