in the past few weeks my PC has been freezing up. I am running Win2k. dont know if this is a the cause, but about a week before it started i had a SCCI card in for a night. Burning from a Jazz Drive. In the event log it has ISAKMP/Oakley error just as it freezes. it doesnt happen just when im online. it happens during very different times. On and off the internet. when the PC is just idle. running different programs. I reinstalled Win2k over the existing and still freezing up.
Could it be the CPU overheating? Ram problem? I am stumped here. I will post the entire error message at the end. since it started my Norton Anti-virus wont start. Return to Castle Wolfenstein wont run anymore either. Can someone help me with this?

Description:
The IP Security policy for ISAKMP/Oakley specified an encryption algorithm that is invalid due to export cryptography restrictions. All 3DES encryption used by ISAKMP/Oakley is weakened to standard DES encyption. Generally, this is benign. ISAKMP/Oakley will still be able to negotiate IP security parameters, and protect that negotiation with DES encryption. This should only be of concern if you demand that the ISAKMP/Oakley negotiation be protected with 3DES encryption. If this is the case, please contact your network administrator.

Hi, Welcome to the Forum

ISAKMP = Internet Security Association and Key Management Protocol

Oakley = Internet Engineering Task Force's IP Security work group

I believe this protocal is part of IE and/or NS SSL 3.0 .

Check your security settings in your browser, for example in IE 6.0:

Tools | Internet Options | Advanced

Scroll down to the Security Section is SSL 2.0/3.0 checked?

SSL 2.0 & 3.0 are checked.....Should they be?

I unchecked them. We will see how it works.

YES

Do you use a "CUSTOM" Security setting or the default one?

Since it started after removing the SCSI, you must still have some software from it. Installing over the top will not get rid of this software.

Was it a Iomega Jazz drive?, if you remember what software was installed for the Jazz drive due a search for it and delete it.

Look in ADD/REMOVE programs for any of that software and get rid off it.
