Problem With Music/Video Players...

Hello all, first time poster here.

Just recently, when I use certain music/video players, I actually have to click the player itself in order to use it. A friend of mine said it has something to do with an ActiveX control, but I'm not really sure how to fix that. Could someone help me with this?

For example, I went to listen to a song on Myspace, and when I run my cursor over the player, it highlights it with a dashed-type border, and I have to actually click on the player to use any of the functions of the player itself. Also when I run my mouse over it, a little message near the cursor says "click to activate and use this control", which is why one of my friends thought it was an ActiveX control problem.

Hope that helps.

Hi to both of you and Minerva2680 welcome to CTH

It is not a problem, you do have to install that control it prompts you to and you do that by clicking the player usually.
If the player doesn't work after that, then it becomes a problem

Hi, if this is an Active X Control problem check your Internet/tools/Internet Options/Security should be set to custom... hope this works otherwise u have to check settings of Active X Control.... to be like these:
"Initialise and script ActiveX controls not marked as Safe" and "Download unsigned ActiveX controls" should be disabled.
Set "Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting" and "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" to enable.

newb2this: It's doing this on other websites, like the video players on Yahoo Music, etc. So I doubt it has anything to do with mouse settings.

Morfeasss: Thanks for the welcome. It never causes the player to not work. It's just that this all of a sudden started happening. It tells me I have to "click to activate and use this control", that's never happened before. It's just getting annoying that now I have to click on players to use them, and was wondering if I could stop that.

chryssi2001: I've checked all the Security options for my ActiveX controls, and they are all set up how you described. Someone I was talking to online he had a similar problem, and he used a program of some sort to fix it, but he doesn't remember the name. (yeah, I don't always talk to intelligent people such as yourselves.)
