Just got finished installing it on my six year old desktop. According to microsofts compatibility check, I was in great shape - after I updated the video card. How wrong it was.
Does not see the network card, does not see the sound soundblaster live 24 card, nor is the microsoft wireless 4000 keyboard 100 percent compatible (number pad will not work). There is no printer driver for the Magicolor network printer.
Otherwise it runs great :D

Just in time for an upgrade then Dan before the big launch:D
I'm giving vista a wide berth myself.

actually I need a new computer, was just hoping the video card would be all I needed to mess with vista until I get that new desktop in a few months.
I guess I will have to be satisfied with it being on my laptop - without sound.:D

Remember, this is a ßeta release, to try out and to report problems to the Vista developement team. When it goes gold, it'll include drivers so stuff actually works. ;)

Oh, its beta??? I did not know that!!!! I thought it was gold???!!!??? :rotflmao:
All I am doing by posting this is to let others who might read it know that theres still major driver problems what what drivers are missing.
It would be better if Vista had its own forum as was promised earlier so it all would be in one spot.

Yeah, that's one item (among others) that the Admin is working out. MiShY'll likely put something in place soon.
But, you're right: stories of hardware not working - including Microsoft branded stuff - abound around the 'net.
Wish I could get people to test my inventions for free........:disgust: :D

"when it goes gold"
Questing for the older members, dose that give you a sense of deja vu going back to ME?

The only thing that ive had probs with is getting drivers for my avermedia pci tv card. Apart from that i find it runs better than xp on the same computer and for some strange reason my wireless seems abit more stable than usual. Prob something to do with the drivers.
Does anyone know where the voice recognition software is? Its on microsofts website but I cant find it on Vista. Perhaps its not on the beta version.

I have my backup system running VISTA. When I installed it everything went smooth until the last reboot then it got to where you sign in and everything went black. I could go into Vista in safemode and safemode with networking. I ended up in safemode going to ATI and downloaded their Beta Vista Driver and installed it. Rebooted and everything has been going good. It will not let you install McAfee or NERO and what it does let you install of them it won't let you remove. If M$ wants to release this next year ithas a long way to go. Just remember its Microsoft and its BETA and you won't get as mad. :)

It does have a long way to go. I finally got rid of it on my desktop mainly because I could not activate it because it would not install my network card. Still have it on two laptops. Works good on those, would be better though if I had sound. :D
