Can't Install Microphone

I have a Labtec Desk Mic 524 and I plug it into the designated microphone hole in the back or front of my computer and nothing happens. It didn't come with any software and I can't figure out what else to do. Help please.

check your volume properties to see if its muted, etc

Nope its not muted. You would think that there would at least be some notification of it being plugged in...

There is no notification that the microphone is on.. did you check if more holes and probably you put it in the wrong one...it happens... Also is there any volume button on the microphone? check it... to be on and high to see if you can listen anything...My computer has 2 green holes and only 1 works for that purpose...

Nothing usually happens when you plug a microphone into a PC. It's the same with speakers. To make it work, you'll need to use a sound editor (like the Sound Recorder that comes with Windows) to record, and test if it records from the microphone.

Yeah the Labtec site didn't help. I did everything it said and still nothing. I've tried plugging it into every hole on my computer that it can fit in and still nothing.

Then if you still have the warantee/guarantee (whatever it is called) and is still valid, you should take it back for replacement.

Did you take note of my last post? Are you actually trying to do anything with the microphone? If so, what software are you using?
