I simply don't get the logic I get almost daily and e-mail that says "none" in the e-mail it has nothing inside and no return e-mail address when I click reply. Can someone explain why someone would send this e-mail on a daily basis? What purpose is behind it?

Thanks!

It's probably spam, most likely to test if the mail server returns an "address not found" error (if it doesn't, the address is valid). It's also possible it's a HTML mail with nothing but a blank GIF embedded in it, which, when loaded, will alert a remote location of your existence.

so how do I stop it?Spam filter, email client message rules, etc.
and how do they get away with no return e-mail???Almost any email client is capable of using a custom return address, which includes a blank one.
But what purpose does it serve it???To test if your mail account is valid - so they can either sell to spammers it as part of a list, or spam it themselves.
It is just one lonely e-mailIt's probably one of millions.

Why not check the message headers to see where it's coming from?

The message header is the pieces of information that make up the email. They contain what is essentially a log of each point of an email's journey among other things - including the email server of the original sender. Most email clients are able to view them, but it depends on what client as to how. It also depends on who your email provider is as to whether or not it will be caught as spam (there's nothing semantically wrong with a blank email) or whether or not you will get further spam.

Of course, it may also be someone is just playing prank on you or something.

spam, as I get it all the time, and yahoo lets spam into ur inbox. I know as long as the big legit businesses and spammers pay yahoo its going into your inbox.. :) also u get spam, these blank emails if you post your email address on a website, forum, etc.. it is best to have a SPAM okay Email address, one where you don't care about spam. with yahoo free email you can create a new email however you can only be signed into one at a time, unless you have diff. browsers and sign each into a diff. account. for example: use Internet Explorer to sign into one and Firefox or Netscape or Oprah into another.. : hopes this helps :

Post #2 explains exactly what the sender could be getting out of it.
