Getting duplicate messages for "read confirmation" in Outlook 2003

I have a user who keeps getting duplicate messages in his inbox when someone reads the message. He has it set up to set a confirmation on every message once it's read and now he's getting two of each read receipt.

He just got a blackberry and I'm thinking this might be the problem. We have a blackberry enterprise server and everything seemed fine until he got the blackberry.
