Internet Explorer multiple windows
I know this is probably a very simple solution, but I can't fix it. I used to be able to have multiple windows open with IE. Now, if I try to open an new one while one is already open, it just sort of overlays that one and I'm not able to have more than one IE window open at a time. Why is that? I haven't changed any settings and can't find where this is addressed.
Thanks in advance for any help!!! |

To check the easiest things first: In IE, go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab. Scroll down to "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts" and make sure it's unchecked. Click OK.
If it was unchecked, next look to any popup stopping software you may have installed. To bypass it, hold down either the Shift key or one of the Ctrl keys (which one works depends on which popup-blocked program is running) when clicking on a link that opens a new window. If that doesn't work, the Yahoo Toolbar has also been known to create the problem. If you have the Yahoo Toolbar installed, disable it (if you can, I don't use it so I don't know if that's possible) or uninstall it and see if that fixes things. |

also if none of the above suggestions work, try disabling any popup stopper software you may have.

Okay, I unchecked the button and it's still doing it. I tried holding down the shift and the control key. And I also turned off my popup blocker. None of that is working. I don't have Yahoo toolbar and haven't installed anything new on my computer in quite a while.
The stuck key....how did you fix it? Mine doesn't appear stuck, but could it be stuck underneath? And would it just suddenly start to do that? Thanks for the ideas and the help. I really appreciate it! |

Repeatedly pressing and releasing a key will usually "un-stick" it by dislodging, (sometimes permanently, sometimes temporarily) the crumbs, spilled super glue or other foreign objects residing under it that may be causing the problem.
![]() Turning the keyboard upside down and shaking it sometimes works, too. Just don't go banging it on the side of the table. Keyboards are sturdy but they do have their limits. |

Is there another setting I should check? Or is there spyware that causes this? I did a scan and it came up fine, but should I try something else? Thanks again! |

Why not change browsers.. firefox has tabbed browsing.. and then we can research whats wrong with ie
To keep more than one browser window open at a time, click File in the main menu, select New, then Window. To close a browser window, click the X in the top right-hand corner or select Close from the File menu. You can also open a new browser window with Ctrl+N. Did you check in Add/Remove Programs to make sure the Yahoo toolbar didn't get installed along with something else? There's some commonly used freeware...can't remember what it is, though...that will install that toolbar unless you tell it not to.
