Java installation problems

I've been trying to download the latest version of Java and keep getting the error message: Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid.

I'm running Windows 98 and downloaded the Windows Installer from Microsoft's website, but that didn't seem to help.

I fixed my own problem! You need to download "Windows Install Clean Up" from Microsoft and use it to uninstall any old programs for which you're trying to install the update, and then re-install the program.
