Appreciate some assistance.

Running Windows 95 A on an old ThinkPad 360CE laptop with a compressed drive.

Trying to help a friend who has Microsoft Office 97, Professional Edition installed. The PC shows MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Photo Editor in the Start>Programs area.

In Contol Panel>Add/Remove Programs, any attempt to uninstall MS Office 97 or any part thereof is met with the following:

"Setup cannot find the files on D:\ from which you originally installed the product."

The laptop does not have a CD-ROM drive, it is not even an option for this old a model. Have no idea of where drive D:\ is coming from. The PC is a hand-me-down, and the owner has no idea of how anything was installed.

Is there a way to uninstall MS Photo Editor without the CD for Microsoft Office 97? Trying to get rid of some programs that are never used to thin out the hard drive. It only has 15.4MB of free space.

try ADD/REMOVE 4GOOD (http://www.4developers.com/addremove/index.htm)

very small program (335k) that works great. free trial version allows you to remove up to 7 programs.

hi

I remember that after you uninstalled MsOffice 97 the normal way, one still had leftovers.
I also remember M$ put a little program on the office CD.
I looked it up (you are lucky that I found back my CDrom...)

I assume you use an english version, which this comes from.
I zipped it up, and attached it
it could be useful.

Thank you for the replies.

Used both suggestions.

They did help to remove some items. :)

I checked my Win95 same version
in Plus folder, I have System folder
in System folder, have
compext.dll 116KB
drvspace.dat 2KB
nocomp.exe 71KB
nocomp.inf 5KB

and that is all.

I am thinking perhaps your folders:
C/Windows/History and C/Windows/Temporary Internet Files

may have been moved or copied to C/Plus ??

if so, they are probably temp int files and can be deleted...

hopes this helps at this late date.

Thanks for the reply.

Will compare the info in the Plus folder, and see what is there. Already took the laptop back to my friend, but will see him in the next few days.

The accumulation of stuff was a group of temporary internet files, some 8000+ of them!!, and was able to delete them all.

Heard the hard drive say: "Ahhhhh!!"
