Hi steverage,

A small ghetto blaster (portable tape player)
a microphone (hooked to the computer)
a big hard drive

Capture the audio as wav
convert *.wav to *.mp3
*.mp3 burned to CD-R

The tape is analog so there is no point in connecting a tape player
to a computer to save a clean sound. Once it's a *.wav it becomes
digital and you can tweak the audio properties from there to improve
the overall quality.
