After a BIOS flash I started to experience freeze up with Win 2 K pro. I finally re-installed Windows and all was well for a day or two, then it started again. I suspect a hardware conflict, but the device manager says all is OK. The events viewer has logged a few errors, but none that I can relate to my problem. I'm open to suggestions on how to troubleshoot this problem. I have an Logitech scroll wheel optical mouse that I had an PS/2 adapter on. I removed the adapter and plugged it in to USB, re-installed the drivers and I'm running now-but for how long I don't know. The freeze up usually start when I'm on the net. I've tried 3 browsers(IE6, IE5 and Opera)-made no difference. Any ideas. Thanks, jmtjet

PS: freeze ups started when I was clicking a link, that's why I made changes to the mouse. It got to the point where I couldn't download or install programs or anything. If they continue I'm going to replace the motherboard.

Hi
Was there a specific reason that you flashed your Bios? Were the freezeups ocurring before the Flash. If they weren't you can always flash back to the old bios you were using.

I flashed the BIOS because I was receiving CMOS ROM checksum errors on boot. After checking all of the usual suspects(MB battery,re-set video card) I performed the flash. I had some problems during the flash. Wound up flashing 3 times. So going back to the original BIOS is not an option. I finally got a good flash-or so I thought. I had zero freeze ups before the flash. It's a PC-Chips MB(mod. 807), with a AMD thunderbird 900 Mega hertz processor, 256 MB ram(Crucial) and Riva TNT2 Mod. 64 display adapter. At first I thought it was the browser, possibly activeX or Java or something, but I've tried 3 browsers-no diff.
Thanks for your reply, jmtjet

PS: I'm a little more experienced now than I was when I bought a PC-Chip MB. I understand they are a piece of s--t. That's why I won't hesitate to change it.
