Hey all recently I've purchased a DI-524 router, and what I have done is I've tried to upgrade the firmware.. but when upgrading it.. i actually downgraded the firmware to version. 1.03 when my router firmware was 1.12 i looked online on anyways of making the firmware default.. the only answer i get is.. the firmware simply replaces any firmware that its on.. even if its newer.. So.. what i need to know is how do i put a new firmware back on? I can't even log into the routers IP.. (192.168.0.1) i also need to know how to reset everything back to default.. (i know about the buttons on the back of the router/modem) What i need is the CMD for renewing/refreshing and etc for my IP address.. can someone please help me out here on restoring my D-Link DI-524 router back to its original firmware. (or at least make it possible so i can access the 192.168.0.1 address.. from there i can fix it easy..)

Thank You.

You may have flashed your router with a firmware for a different device... there is no 1.03 available for download and the newest is 1.21.

I can't find any manual flashing software/method for this router. Some routers have a failsafe address that you can use a tftp program to reflash with, but I can't find anything for D-Link. Maybe someone else here knows something more.

I see. Well, normally when a flash goes bad for a router, there is a program available that can detect the corrupted device or the router will have a failsafe address that can be used to reflash it. I can't find either for the DLinks...

You can try to use the reset button. Hold the button down for 10 seconds, then while still holding the button power off the router for 5-10 seconds. Then, while still holding the button, power on the router and hold the button for another 10 seconds. That is factor reset sequence, but that usually just resets the current firmware.

BTW: for future reference, firmware updates are cumulative. You don't have to "work your way up". Just start at the top.

Hi,

Are you doing all this using a wired connection to the router? I sure hope so. ;)

Let's see if we can figure out why your not getting to your router. What do the lights on the router look like? (Which ones are on, which ones are flasking, etc) Are you getting a good ip address for your PC when connected to your router?

Also, check the model and version of your router again. You do have a DI-524 version A1 or A2, yes? Make sure are grabbing the fireware versions for Canada (See Here (http://support.dlink.ca/ProductView.asp?ProdID=355#firmware))

ok i checked the wires and everything.. what actually happend is the router cable that came with it.. wasn't good.. it was missing some wires inside of it.. when i took it into the technician they said where ever it was manufactured.. they didnt' carefully put this piece together.. so they gave me a new wire.. and everythign was good! It was a hardware defect that i coudlnt' see.. :( but problem is solve.. Replacing usually works good lol
