GAWR3000 - cannot access router interface

I've got a Addon GWAR3000. It was working fine until we upgraded our broadband connection. The internet packed in and so did our router. It still functions perfectly with regards to LAN, but I cannot access the router to change its settings. I can get to the login page, but when I type the correct username and password in, it just states that there is an internal communication error and goes no further. Does anyone know of a reset for this router or any other ideas? I have tried the conventional reset button on the router, but to no avail.

You might be able to use telnet if the router is compatable.

Open up a command prompt by clicking on start and then "run". Type cmd and press ok. Then type "telnet 192.168.1.1" without the "" and the 192.168.1.1 could be something else if you have changed its IP address. Then find something that says factory reset after you login.

Most router reset buttons need to be pressed and held for
20+ seconds to clear to defaults.
You can also try unplugging the router for a while.

Yep

Try that too. I've also found on occasion when my router locks up and doesnt allow me to reset it using the button I have to leave it turned off for half an hour and then hold the reset button while its off and then power it up while still holding down the reset button.

Many thanks for all of your help guys. The router did seem to use telnet, but I was at a loss as to what to do next! However, G Dem's idea workd an absolute treat, so thanks for that.

However, I have a new problem now. LAN still works fine, but I cannot access my broadband connection. I am with Tiscali, and as far as I can see I have inputted all details correctly. It can't be a problem with my line, because it works perfectly with an USB modem. When I plug it inot my router, no lights flash for the WAN and it can't seem to connect to it......

If you go to the router config page and view the status what does it say?
Your best bet might be to call Tiscali and check that all the ADSL details are correct in the router including the user name and password. Is the DSL light on your router on, flashing or off?
