Actiontec Gateway Inquiry

i just wanna ask, if the user is using DHCP , why is it hard for me to configure the gateway? i tried to access its GUI, exhausted my knowledge on this issue, but then again he cannot connect to internet? by the way the user is a verizon dsl customer

DHCP forces an IP address, a subnet, and a gateway on a client. It can optionally force DNS, but the client and override. If the user is getting its information from the DHCP server but still can not access the internet, then you may want to check the default gateway that the DHCP server issues and make sure its active. I.E. Ping the gateway.
