Hi, I'm having trouble with wireless network activity. I get wireless internet from a linksys network located god knows where to my laptop. The signal stregth is always good and the speed ranges from 36.0 Mbps - 58.0 Mbps usually. Sometimes my internet will hardly work even with the signal strength good and speed good. I notice when this happens the activity packets received drop very low (they are usually higher than the number of packets sent) and sometimes stop all together.
I know since I am getting the internet for free I shouldn't complain, but is there any way to check my settings to find out what is wrong?

Boy, this message is almost uninterpretible - you'll need to provide much more specific information if you want others to respond - not sure that I or more expert members can help, but please give some specific details, e.g. how are you connecting to this 'wireless' Linksys router (computer, adapter, OS, etc.)? Since this Linksys connection is 'free', what are the specifics (open unprotected, broadcast specifics such as SSID, channel, distance from AP, etc.). Finally, the speeds mentioned (i.e. up to 58 Mbps imply connection above the standard 802.11g option - explanation?). Hopefully, a response to some or many of these questions might help you in resolving the problem. Good luck.

As you said you shouldn't complain as your getting it for free. I suggest getting your own service that way you can do things to get better service and you won't be 'stealing' someone else's service.
Since this is the only advice we can really give you I'm going to close this thread.
