I have a safecom 5Port Comb wireless router with ip 192.168.1.1

When I set up the router it can be seen on the network but will not connect to the internet. Firewall on switched off. My ISP user name and password work fine using my modem connection but it not recognised on the router. Router has been run on another PC and works fine. Any suggestions? I am losing the will to live over this one.

Hi there. When you say its been used on another pc do you mean on the same internet connection or somewhere else?

The router has been used on another internet connect at another location.

Get into the configuration page by entering 192.168.1.1 in your web browser and check that the DNS is correct in the LAN Config screen. You may need to call your ISP to check various settings such as the PPP settings.

Hi

Router is now connected to laptop but will not access ISP orange. Orange helpdesk will not provide details of PPP setings as I am not using an orange router.

What plan do you have from orange?

If orange allows you to use your own modem, then they should provide you with the PPP settings that are needed to attach to there network.

Exactly. That is discusting customer support. I believe Orange use Wannado broadband so i'll have a look on the net to see what I can find. If I find any settings I will post them. In the mean time I would shout at their customer support team. :curse: P.S. are you in the UK?

So you have their USB modem which is why you need to get rid of it if you want to have more than one PC accessing the internet. Can you access the admin console for the modem?
