Connectivity problem...how do I resolve the "169" IP address problem?

My internet connection will fall off after a while. I check and have a "169" IP address. I can do a system restore to an earlier date and that works for a while, then the problem returns.

Any help is appreciated.

start/run "cmd /k ipconfig /release" without quotes.

turn off router

reboot

turn on router

should solve problem.
