Syd Barrett, founder member of Pink Floyd has died. A big shock, he was 60.

The bloke was a legend,he wrote all of Floyds early stuff which in my opinion was there best, and was one of the original members.Pipers at the Gates of Dawn was probably syds best album.Wish You Were Here and The Wall are both based on Barrett’s tragic story of life of drugs and being sent to an asylum for taking to much LSD.Roger Waters wrote both of them albums above.but it was Syd whose debue album made Pink Floyd what they are today...
heres some info from the BBC here in the UK.

He started out with great potential. Syd has been lying low for so long he's now barely remembered by most as an original founder of Pink Floyd. At Live8 when Pink Floyd was playing he got a shoutout from Roger Waters when they played Wish You Were Here: "To everyone who's not here, but particularly for Syd." Nice to be remembered at that special occasion.
RIP Syd.

I don't remember Syd to be honest.. but if he left the band in 1968 that's not really suprising. Pink Floyd are one of the greatest bands in the world.. and still play amazingly as live8 proved.
RIP Syd.

v sad news. I started listening to Pink Floyd from their earliest stuff to newer. Very inspiring, technically excellent, and fundamentally different to what I imagine was around at the time.
