greets all! im new around here, so please welcome me aboard.

im having this problem with tweak ui and win2k.

u see, i installed the program and everything fine, la-la-la.

the problem is this: i selected to remove the control panel from the start menu (dont ask me y), and now i have no control panel. i cant run the program and undo the changes because it only runs from the control panel!

so what i am wondering is if anyone knows anything off-hand that can help me?

all control panel progs have .cpl extension, i am thinking maybe i can call the program from a command prompt but im not having any luck.

there is command- control x (x being printers, folders, power, etc.) but when i attempt to run command ..control tweakui i get message that says contact the admin. unfortunately i am the admin.

any help would b greatly appreaciated!!!

Hi r41f - Welcome to CTH! You have a couple of options.

Go to Start > Search and search for Tweakui.cpl on your drive. When you find it, double-click to open TweakUI, and reverse the setting that hides the Control Panel.

If that doesnt work try this:

Go to Start > Run and type regedit. Drill down to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer
Delete the entry "NoControlPanel" from the right-hand pane. Exit regedit and restart Windows. NB Always back up your Registry before making any changes.
