Is it just me or are most of these guys too squeaky clean for a band with Tommy Lee & Jason Newstead? (Note: I couldn't care less about Gilby "I spent 18mths with GnR" Clarke aka "insert disposable guitar hero here").
The females are the only ones showing enough balls to front a hard rock band.
Of the guys who have shown some ability, Lukas is too "goth" and Toby is too pretty.
Storm vs Dilana - 2 horse race as far as I'm concerned.

Storm and Dilana were my top two picks from last week. Storm just rocks. Dilana nailed it last week with Nirvana's Lithium, then this week she does a Johnny Cash song. She's got more talent than any I've seen so far but she might be too freaky for the band. :D
Magni, the guy from Iceland has some talent but he's gonna have to get past the europop thing and do some serious rockin'.
Not much that I can tell about the others. I can barely remember them, except for Lukas. Great redeye makeup. Not much of a voice. ;)

It was either Chris - Bottom 3 for each of the first 2 shows or Zayra "I was in diapers when you irrelevant old has-beens were making hit records".
Chris should have been gone the first week so no suprise he's gone now. I guess his brownie points from the "in at the deep end in the studio" episode helped him.
I think it was a case of which one of those 2 do the band really not want to have to endure next week.
Bit of a shock to see Jenny was in the bottom three during the voting - I thought she did a good job of rocking up "Tainted Love".

Jill saved herself from the Hole disaster. What a wreck that was, almost more comedy club than music.:D The guys seemed surprised at her choice of an Evanescence song in her redemption performance but she rocked it. When she got into the second verse I knew she'd saved herself for at least a week.
Chris: I think they wanted to put him out of his misery and that's the only reason Zayra survived. It's either that or they wanted to keep her around another week for the same reason Paul senior likes to keep Mikey around the American Chopper shop ("He makes me laugh!"). :rotflmao:
Sho-dan, I agree Toby has some real potential. He's my pick for being in the top three guys. I think Dalina is going to be there til the very end. So far she's my top pick.

What the ???? happened this week?
I missed it on TV so watched the performances on-line and 3/4 of our favourites sucked!
Dilana - monstered "Zombie" - Yuk.
Lukas - picked a sucky song (Sorry - I hate the 'Stones) but he did a good Mick impersonation prancing around the stage.
Toby - zzz Probably poor song choice but could have done better.
Storm - Pulled through - good work on a less "Rock" song.
Performance of the show - I though Zayra was awesome - I wish she had scored "Zombie" though, I think that would have shown off her voice even better. Should have saved herself for another week - even if it's just for laughs or eye-candy reasons.
Ryan's "Fortunate Son" and Phil's "White Rabbit" were both good (Phil HAD to be good with Jason playing bass for him!) and Jill proved that her one-off Courtney Love mess-up was not her.
Bottom 3 this week? Jenny, Magni and Patrice. Patrice to be gone.

This is one of the very few shows worth turning on the tv for in summer.
As it stands right now, I would like to see the top 3 be: Dilana, Magni, and Lukas, in that order. Dilana is the complete package but I do wonder if the band truly wants a female front and how that would affect their fan base. Not much to say about Magni except to quote Tommy Lee, "Magni-ficent". And Lukas, oh Lukas, the wee punky-goth leprechaun is just fun to watch. Honorable mention goes to Dana this week for stepping it up with Sass Jordan's High Road Easy.
The splashpage of their website is not dial-up friendly but for fans of the show it's well worth the wait for the cool tattoo themed homepage. Once inside everything loads up fairly quickly. Lots of stuff to look at, read, and download. I checked out everyone's playlist, no surprises really except for maybe Gilby Clarke's.

Hi Smurfy! :)
Thank you for welcoming me to the site.
No posts concerning the show this week? Anyone surprised to see Phil go? I thought for sure Zayra was a goner, they've given her so many chances to do something rock instead of pop.
Is anyone here actually voting? I haven't yet, been meaning to but the one time I went to their site to cast one, the voting was closed 'til next time, lol.

July 28th, 2006, 09:07 AM
Yes, I've been voting every week - voting for my top 3 (or 4).
Generally that's been Dilana, Storm and Lukas but last week Ryan and Dana snuck in ahead of Lukas.
I think the band were ready to call it quits and sign up Storm this week.
She was simply amazing, even without the stage dive.
I'm beginning to be concerned about Dilana constantly picking the down-tempo tracks though, I think she needs to hit a heavy one this week to get back up to Storm's level.
Phil had to go soon - I was a little suprised that Zayra survived but at least she has managed 1 or 2 1/2 decent performances. Everything I've seen from Phil has been a mumbling bumbling mess. I think their "commitment" excuse was a bit of a stretch, this was Jason saying "get him outta here". The only time he looked decent was when Jason was providing all the excitement by playing Bass for him.
Zayra will be bottom 3 again next week but it would not shock me to see her survive again. I think they'll want to get rid of a couple more (Josh and Patrice) before they get rid of her pure entertainment value.

Zayra gave her best performance yet and she's still a joke. You can see the guys laughing in the background when she performs. The band members probably won't get rid of her til close to the end though because she's great comedy relief and pretty good eye candy. (Was that a thong she was wearing under her cape? I couldn't tell.;) )
Ryan kicked it on the piano solo. Showed some talent and rocked it on Losing My Religion. He's got a real shot at being there to the end.
I still think Dilana will be in the band if they want the best performer and would accept a woman to front them.
Dana will say goodbye tomorrow unless she shows more talent than she has so far. Too bad, nice kid but... time to go.

I think Dave summed it up in a nutshell after Tommy played drums on the first track...
"eight of you would just disappear in front of him"
Ryan is now clearly the standout guy agead of Magni and Toby - Lukas is in trouble.
Storm and Dilana still right at the top. Dilana's crowd journey was classis one-up"man"ship. :)

Does anyone also watch Rockstar in the Mansion (I think that's what it's called)? It's a half hour show on Monday nights with the Rockstar gang and drop-in visits from the Supernova members. Basically shows happenings within the mansion such as the contestants choosing songs from the songboard and snippets of rehearsals.

We aren't getting the "reality" episodes on TV here so I'm having to watch those on-line.
Missed the elimination show this week as I was out of town and out on the town ;)
You get the feeling the band were a little suprised at the make-up of the bottom 3 this week?
Ryan is clearly a far better singer than Lukas or Toby but you get the feeling he's competing in the wrong year - He would have been good for INXS.
Who's the last 10 then...
in my (thusfar unreliable) predicted order of dismissal (of course dependent on the B3 each week)...
10 Patrice
9 Josh
8 Jill
7 Zayra
That's good-bye to all who have NO chance, the next 6 are all capable of going all the way provided they don't keep doing what Lukas and Toby did last week...
6 Toby
5 Lukas
4 Ryan
3 Magni
2 Dilana
1 Storm to win (Although it's still a coin-toss with Dilana).

There's no way I could begin to predict the order in which the next ones will go. Pretty random really. :D
My picks for the last five to stay and the order they'll finish...
5 Toby - Inconsistent performer. This pick would have been Lukas but I think he disappointed the guys last week with his failure to memorize the lyrics to his song. Besides he doesn't look all that good in makeup. ;)
4 Magni - Good voice, good performer, still too europop to win.
3 Storm - Solid rocker, ok voice but nothing really special to front the band.
2 Ryan - He's got talent and a solid rock singer voice. I think he really impressed Tommy with his solo piano performance last week. Impressed me too. If the guys are determined to have a guy front the band, he's the one.
1 Dilana - Winner. She's nailed every performance and showed incredible versatility doing it. The band needs someone like her. Stong personality and presence, professional performer.

Crazy show tonight, some surprises I thought.
Best performance: practically a tie between Lukas and Magni with Lukas slightly nudging to the top.
Bottom 3: Jill, Josh, Patrice.
In my opinion tonight was Dilana's worst performance. It seemed uncomfortable and out of sync between she and Gilby somehow. Could just be that she's been knocked down a peg on the pedestal I have her up on after hearing the disaster of a song she created on the mansion show last night. I thought it was a really bad joke.
Usually in agreement with Dave, I disagreed tonight about Toby's use of the megaphone. I thought it was great and was the first time that I could actually picture him on the short list.
Best line: Tommy Lee to Josh, "...the guitar freezes up yer funk." :rotflmao:

That's the first time I can honestly say I didn't dislike any of the performances and a couple really showed that they aren't going to be also-rans here.
Lukas will get the encore - they'll want to hear that voice again.
I think there was more to Tommy jumping in behind Josh than met the eye. They do really like his voice but until then could not picture the "soul man" in their rock band.
Jill & Patrice will be in the bottom 3 again but the 3rd one will be a voting popularity contest, not a talent contest. Josh probably but who knows.
Patrice is still my pick to leave but could just as easily be Jill.

Well Ha ha ha.
I can see exactly what they've just done.
They did not expect to see Ryan in the B3.
They are now worried that one week soon they are going to get 3 in the B3 that they want to keep. So now they have a get out of jail free week where they can not eliminate anyone if they don't want to.
Patrice survived a week longer than I thought but my next 2 on my list are gone.
Josh - great voice, wrong style
Jill - just wrong. Chemistry baby, she hasn't got it.

Anyway, it was about time for Josh and Jill to go. I wasn't particularly fond of either of them. Was glad to see both Lukas and Magni get the encore, they deserved it. Looking forward to seeing what they all got up to in Vegas, and of course, the performances next week.

Damn, they hated Storm! That'll put paid to my chances of getting it right.
Bottom 3 this week, Patrice, Toby and Zayra.
As predicted, Patrice to go on the strength of Zayra's guts in doing the original song and Toby's commitment to playing with the band member.
Top 5 in their own class though - Magni, Lukas, Ryan, Dilana and Storm but on the strength of the performances in the last couple of weeks the order could be all over the place.
It's going to get really interesting in 3 weeks time when they are down to those 5 and they have to start sending home people they really can see being good enough to front the band.
encore: hmmmmm Probably Dilana but my wildcard = Zayra with the full band, not unplugged.

Bottom three...
Zayra got to do an original song and she's singing a lightweight ballad in Spanish? Well done but not a song to play on Rockstar.
Storm had a really tough song and couldn't pull it off. Oh well. (I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor)
Patrice: Ouch, goodbye.
For a stripped down acoustic show there were some pretty rocking performances. I debated whether to include Toby (with Gilby, doing a Peter Gabriel song) in the bottom three. OK job but blew a big chance to get some musical credibility. Lukas and Magni were really good but not winners.
Ryan, doing a Phil Collins song had a really intense, great perfomance. If not for Dilana, he'd be the winner as those two are clearly the frontrunners.
Dilana, doing a Harry Chapin song, was simply amazing (again). If anyone has broadband, that's the one to watch. She's a winner.

For sure. Even Jason mentioned something about that and not wanting someone in the band that would get all drunk and be laughed at because it would also be a reflection on he and the band. I agree. Could be the "reason" why they let Toby go tonight (if they do).
-------------------------------
Bottom Three:
Patrice.
Toby.
Zayra. Come on boys, smoke a bong, bang a gong, do whatever it is you have to do but please send her packing already!
After seeing Storm try on the Gloria Gaynor song I Will Survive in rehearsal, I pretty much figured that it was going to be a flop. And apparently it was for the guys. But I thought after she got through the wretched beginning that she almost pulled it off by the end. Which brings me to the...
Best line: Tommy Lee to Storm, "...that was just sautčed in wrong sauce..."
Lukas looked like a little kid sitting on that big soft chair onstage. A small barstool may have been a better idea. Thought he did quite well with Chad Kroeger's Hero.
Magni sweet as ever, should never wear a white suit again. LOL.
When Dilana and Tommy Lee were set aside at the party in Vegas it was disappointing to hear her pitch herself (and quite strongly I thought) to him. Just seemed rather tacky and kind of underhanded. She was slightly redeemed when after her (bang on) performance on the show she exclaimed to the guys (this time for all to hear) that she was The One. She'll probably be chosen for the coveted encore.
Best Performance:
Ryan has won me over. Loved his rendition of Phil Collins' In The Air Tonight. In my opinion he was even better than my fave, Dilana. Yes, you heard right.

Woohhoooo.
OK, 1stly let me say that I stand by my original pick, Patrice should have gone before Z, particularly on the strength of that performance, but then I do know Blue October's material, not like those old farts and know she kicked it. Patrice was just the same old Patrice. Bland.
Now then, for the drama...
How the hell Magni hit the B3 is beyond anyone but now the competition is really hotting up he took the opportunity to nail Lukas. Absolutely proved he has the better voice by pre-empting the upcoming "by viewer request" slots and singing Lukas' best performed song better than Lukas did.
I'm sure nobody missed the significance of that, especially Lukas.
Storms' great acting job in the bottom 5. More eye drama. I don't think she'll recover from this week in time to make the last 3. :(
Ryan's encore - slightly less compelling than the previous night. But clearly should be in the last 3 with Dilana and Magni.
And lastly, although it kicked off the show... Supernova (Feat. Dilana)
She was awesome.
The song, the band.... I really hope they have better material than that to trundle out with in December because otherwise the biggest star to come out of this show will be whoever finishes 2nd and doesn't have to be contracted into that crud.
I don't know if Dilana has the songwriting ability to save them.
They keep going on about "new and fresh" but... the reality is quite different isn't it? If that was on a demo CD to a recording company without their names attached, it would be rejection letter material.
As the Arctic Monkey would say... "Don't believe the 'ype".

Interesting show last night, some really good songs. Toby got to do Layla, a classic that might save him for a week or two but he's still on the bubble. Storm might get the encore. She had a tough song (Cryin' by Aerosmith) and did an excellent job with it. They might give her the encore on that basis. Magni did Smells like teen spirit, a Nirvana song that's high on my list of personal favorites. He did it well and might get an encore but I think that Ryan will beat them both out. (Yes, I'm waffling.;))
I hate the thought of it but Dilana might end up in the bottom three. Her performance was ok but not up to her usual outstanding level. She's still my pick to win overall but Ryan's gaining some ground (especially after the media event:rolleyes: ).
Bottom three...
Patrice (Goodby Patrice)
Toby (Good song, good job, but somebody has to be in the bottom three)

So glad you said what I was thinking! Dilana's performance was bang on, and, she even looked pretty (loved the corset with the ruffled bottom). However, the song was terrible, lol. I totally agree with you that it would be rejection material if it was submitted by some unknowns.
Rushed home Monday night to catch The Mansion @ 10pm only to find it wasn't on, or I had missed it. Grrr. Thankfully it turned up on the tube last night @ 7:30 pm, I have no clue why they have been messing around with the times etc. this week. Wasn't at all impressed with Dilana's negative and gossipy comments about the other contestants. Doubt it will hurt her any, but sure can't see it helping her whatsoever either.
Thought everyone was tight enough this week that it makes it difficult to pick tops 'n' bottoms.
But here they are. Bottom 3:
Patrice. And even though I liked her song, I found myself agreeing with Dave once again, she should be a solo act. She's going home this week.
Magni. He was good as usual, but the performance wasn't memorable.
Storm. Loved the way she did Aerosmith's Crying and it reminded me of what a good song it is and how I need to dig it out of the ole archives and have another listen. Could do without the eye bulging thingy she's been doing of late, kind of reminds me of that eye bulging head rolling thing that Patrice does that grates after awhile.
Ryan was top dog imo last night, loved his original and could easily see it as a Supernova tune (far better than their debut tune, eh Smurfy? ;) ). He deserves the encore, but having already gotten a couple (one recently) I think they may give it to someone else tonight. Am thinking perhaps Toby or maybe even Lukas, oh who knows anymore!
Really enjoyed Toby's performance and contrary to Gilby's opinion, I thought his arrangement of Layla was cool.
Not much to say about Lukas and Dilana other than well done.
Best line: Tommy Lee to Lukas, "Cheque please!"
Newest (and best) nickname: Dubbed by Navarro, Ryan "Darkhorse" Star

Yes I liked the Supernova track this week far better than the first one too. Would be nice if all of the rest were up to at least this level or higher.
I guess instead of an encore performance now, they're going to pick one contestant to "play with Supernova", which is even better I think.
If we're making early predictions for next week I suppose I'll go with the same choices as you Smurfy but in a different order:
Top 3... Dilana, Ryan, Lukas
Bottom 3... Toby, Magni, Storm (am hoping Toby is the next to go but have a sneaking suspicion that it'll be Magni :( )
Would Rockstar be the equivilent of our X Factor in UK????
I'm not really sure but I'm thinking your X Factor may be more like American Idol than Rockstar. American Idol is a pop singing talent contest that starts off with the 'best' contestants from all over the states and each week whittles the group down in size until they have the final/top 'American Idol'. I think they get a recording deal and other perks and whatnot.
Rockstar is kind of different in that there is already a 'rock' group formed but are in need of a lead singer. There are other differences too, such as the contestants are from all over the globe, etc.. Plus, the costuming and music is a whole lot better (in my opinion).

Thanks, haven't seen it yet. It won't be on here for another hour. :)
Last night there were some excellent performances and it's going to be harder and harder to let someone go home. Some are definitely not for Supernova though, so even if they're good they'll go.
Dilana doing Mother Mother was un freakin' believable, she's still the winner if politics and personalities don't do her in.
Ryan's Clocks had some incoherent vocals, but ok on the stage antics and piano dancing and playing. I think people will like it but it was definitely not a high spot for him.
Magni, I alone, excellent. Too bad he's not as popular as some. He'll do great when he returns to Iceland.
I suppose it's time to pick the worst of the best, there are no easy picks left. Bottom three...
Storm did a killer version of Bring me to life. Too little too late.
Toby's Rebel yell was an easy song to rock, but he was forcing it not working it. I thought he actually sounded better singing behind Storm. Go figure.
Lukas: Excellent version of Lithium (one of my fav Nirvana songs) but his singing voice is not for Supernova. Goodbye Lukas.

Well, chuck out the best songwriter the week you announce a songwriting clinic why don't you?
Predictions schmedictions.
I'm happy.
Storm got to do Helter Sketer and survived.
Her Bring me to Life last night was awesome. I was worried about the range as well, but she pulled it off. The Toby assist may have backfired but I thought it was a good idea.
She'll be gone next week though.
Dilana - has she seen the writing on the wall that winning this thing may not be the ideal career move they thought it was going to be?
Is she deliberately trying to sabotage her chances? The press thing and the melodrama in the mansion followed by that (wacky?) version of Psycho Killer?
Did you see the looks on their faces as she was doing it. "Have you built up enough credit to let us ignore that sh|t?". But then, last night's Mother Mother was simply spine tingling.
Toby - Sweet performance of Rebel Yell - played his ace (too early?) by getting Tommy's eye candy up on stage with him. Deserved the encore.
Lukas - (sang?) the Supernova track and mixed it up between unintelligible growl and showing off a brilliant set of pipes. I didn't enjoy Lithium last night though. Deserved to be at risk (standing) for the first time.
Magni - finally got the support he deserves and was no chance of B3. I Alone showed off his voice to perfection.
Ryan "DarkHorse". As he was doing Clocks I mentioned to the family "He's over-done it" and then Jason basically said the same thing. I think people were expecting his Clocks to be another "Losing my Religion" but he just kept on amping it up and I got the feeling he didn't know how to change down a gear once he had started accelerating. Was great on one of my all-time favourite Who tracks tonight and it's sad to see him go BUT his farewell comment was all class. Read between those lines... "Your material sucks, I'll kick your ass in the charts".

I can't even believe it. Not only did Ryan "The Darkhorse" get the boot, but I MISSED the show!!!!!!!! :cry2:  :cry2: Knew I wasn't going to make it home in time to watch it, so I set up my vcr to record from 9-10. When I got home the first thing (and I do mean the first thing!) I did was run to the machine and press rewind. Then scrambled around the house quickly doing what needed to be done so I could sit down and enjoy the show, only to find that my bleeping tv station switched Rockstar into the 8pm time slot and put some new lawyer show on at 9!!
This enquiring mind needs to know:
Who were the bottom 3?
What did they each sing? Did they perform well?
What was said to each by the judges?
What reason(s) did they give to axe Ryan? What was his reaction?
Has Supernova lost their minds? lol. If they dumped Ryan (!) then does Dilana have it all wrapped up like we seem to think she does?

Five were chosen for the bottom three initially and only Magni was safe. Tommy said, "They're having one hell of a party in Iceland right now!"
Three performers from the bottom three...
Ryan did Baba O' Riley (The Who) and totally blew it. He was pretending to be a rockstar instead of performing the song. Too bad cause if he had just sang and performed instead of jumping on the gear and running around singing offkey he might have stayed.
Storm did Helter Skelter. She called it one of the original punk rock songs and that's how she sang it. Nailed it and saved herself in the end.
Dilana did Psycho Killer (Talking Heads). I forget the exact words but she said something about choosing that song because she needed to do it. ;) A little unusual but still excellently done. She can sing anything and make people like it.
Ryan self destructed on his last two performances. When they chose him to go they didn't really say exactly why but I think the Supernova dudes saw him forcing the rock thing at the expense of the music and it was totally unnatural to him. He was a bit bitter about going because he is a really good singer/writer but he summed it up by saying something like: "I'm going back to a solo career. Seeya on the charts."
They like Toby so he'll stay awhile. He could well be the new dark horse. Magni is popular and talented but outclassed on stage presence. Storm is on borrowed time. Lukas is too goth and growly for a rock band but he'll do well in clubs. Dilana, as far as I'm concerned, is still the one.

Final 5 performance show review/opinion:
Scenes from the songwriting clinic - Toby, Lukas and Dilana shown, no coverage of Magni or Storm.
Dilana panned for her songwriting, Toby did well, Lukas "winged it" but still did OK.
Then everyone did a "mini-set" a cover followed immediately by an original.
Dilana - Torn muscle? Cynical attempt at the sympathy vote?
Voice still fabulous but her original was panned for the lyric. I guess it's the difference between telling a story and spinning a yarn? I agree though, the song was forgettable. Jason's comment a telling blow - all he could compliment was the commitment by performing with the injury.
Magni - Solid as a rock. Back in the USSR probably the song that was hardest to put an individual stamp on so he just reeled it off. Orignial kicked butt and I thought the lyrics were good considering they were either brand new or a translation from the Icelandic.
Storm - When Dave jumped up I though "that's it, she's history - this was his last chance to do it" but wow! Can she come back?
As for the original... Ladylike is much better in it's expletive laden entirety "What the what is ladylike.." LOL but it's still a killer tune in "G-rated" form. Check out her MySpace with The Balls for the real version. The boys loved it.
Lukas - Sucked. Ruined Livin' on a Prayer then his original was just a by-the-books Gothic angst anthem (of which I am an officianado) that just plain wasn't very good. But he's still the favourite with the band and the fans :(
Toby - Must be considered the front runner now with Lukas thanks to songwriting and stage presence, if not pure vocal ability. Original = the sort of hook-laden chart topper Supernova need.
The only one I am now 100% confident WILL make the top 3 grand finale is the only one I don't want to make it - Lukas. :curse:

Dilana is in a self-destruction mode, she still has the voice but still thinking about those put down interviews.
Lukas still makes my head spin, just a little goth robot.
Magni is still working hard, but he's just missing it.
Toby, yes a very strong front runner, a most excellent session last night.
Storm, even my wife liked her,she is hoooooooot:D
Dilana, toby and storm top three. Lukas goes home tonite.
EDIT: The final 4 has been selected, I say no more . :D

Hmmm, I must have been in mourning for the last week after Storm was eliminated and didn't post what I was going to...
Ryan came back and got a new Honda. Would have liked to have seen another new song, not Back of my Car again.
Final 4.
Lukas, Toby, Dilana, Magni.
Lukas - Unlike Dave, I couldn't listen to that for an entire album let alone a 2 hour concert. Stage routine seems to be limited to "the strutting rooster" or "the pained statue". But, if I had to say who I think the band wants, it would still be him. He's my "vote with my head" winner.
Toby - Really has a shot at it, if he can get his pop-rock hooks into their retro-rock riffs, we could see some deserved hit songs. He attracts the kind of crowd Tommy wants. At this stage, vocal ability alone isn't the deciding factor so what he lacks there is able to be ignored.
Dilana - I don't think she's capable of a bad performance on stage, it's off-stage that could influence her chances. She is not a good enough song-writer and I don't know if they can handle 3 months on the road with her. She's my "vote with my heart" winner.
Magni - The opposite of Toby really - Great muso and voice, wrong audience. If they want to make credible rock records, he's their man, if they only want to attract teenage girls to their concert tour, he'll be the first one eliminated tomorrow night.
Bottom 2 after voting - Magni and Lukas, Magni to be eliminated
Top 3 Grand Finale - Toby, Dilana and Lukas - Lukas to get the gig.

Good show last night. At this point, they're all in the running except Magni. Good singer, no live perfomance charisma. I don't see him in Supernova so he'll go first tonight.
Toby has lots of charisma and he's popular but he can't really handle tough vocals. He has a real good shot at being the opening act with the house band.
I hope Lukas goes away but he could be the winner. I'm surprised he made it as far as he did but I think they like him. I really don't know why. I think he's all show and little voice.
Gilby might complain about Dilana's songwriting skills but her song wasn't bad, just a bit complex. (He probably doesn't like Rush either.) I think her song was much better than the simple little ditty written by Lukas. So freakin' boring it made my head spin.
Dilana is still my pick for the best performer. She did a totally captivating version of Roxanne then followed that up with a rocker version of her original song Supersoul. Great versatile voice and professional stage presence. Depends on how the band feels about touring and recording with her.
Should be an entertaining show tonight. The final three are definitely gonna rock it. :)

Well, I suppose people still buy concert tickets just to see the support acts right?
Lineup for the tour:
Panic Channel (Dave Navarro)
HouseBand & Dilana
Supernova (or whatever they are going to be forced to change their name to) with Lukas Rossi.
I'd leave after the first two finish to beat the traffic, wouldn't miss much.
After this series I will be seriously looking for CDs from Storm and the Balls - "Blue", Ryan Star (although "Dark Horse" may be a Mark Burnett quickie cash-in so I may wait for the next one from him) and the wonderful Ms Dilana Smith. I won't be looking for Supernova.

Hi Smurfy
As you said, the heart wanted Dilana :cry2: . Who is /was the best performer overall in this old geeter band show.. It just comes down to Show me the the money and girls band, which I dont blame supernova for. I listen to a few tracks of Panic Channel and you can keep them.:nope: Storms cd I would buy,oh yeh. Untill next time.

Everything I had to say prior to the last show is moot now, however...
Rockboy, I'm sorry it's taken so long to respond. Just want to thank you for the update and answering my questions after the last time I posted, much appreciated.
Smurfy, I couldn't help but LOL at your description of Lukas' routine as "limited to 'the strutting rooster' or 'the pained statue'".
That's so true.
Sho-Dan, I would have placed my money on Dilana if I had been able to answer your "Well folks, who's it gonna be." question.

Re: the finale...
I've had a soft spot for Lukas from the beginning but never thought he deserved it more than Dilana. Can't help but wonder how much her off-stage antics affected the final decision. My own opinion of her started to wane during the Vegas episode where she was aside with Tommy and basically said to dump the other contestents because she was The One. It then continued to dwindle weekly thereafter with each new stunt, particularly her bashing of the others to the press and when she offended Ryan by saying he and his song would be nothing without the house band. Isn't that kind of ironic considering she can't write a song to save her soul. But! I never wavered in my appreciation and admiration of her talent onstage. She was superior to all of the others when it came to performance and singing. And I would have thought that's what the band was looking for. Had these incidents not taken place, would the outcome be different?
As for Lukas, well, good on him. He was (in my opinion) pretty much on par with the top 5 or 6, just not as good as D. I know some can't believe he made it as far as he did, that's how I felt about Toby. I think Magni was great but not the right fit, he'd do better fronting a group like Live or Nickelback et al. Ryan might have been a better choice because at least he could write and I think Supernova is in desperate need of a decent writer.
I think it's safe to say that any expectancy for the longevity of this band is over, just like this year's show. Who knows though, I'm sure we can all think of some top bands out there that just make you shake your head in disbelief, lol. Anyway, it was fun to watch and I hope to see you all here next season! ;)
