problem is back

Ok here is a puzzler for you a while back I posted a problem and was given an answer that worked.. and has been working fine but now I am down again.. so here is the situation we are crosscabled connection two computers with everything marked as it should be in internet connection tcp/IP can't do anything if I give it an ip address and gateway of the other computer she can ping the internet by number but cannot ping by address please help...we both have windows xp pro and have run the wizard 5 or 6 times

From your previous post and this one, I only understand how your computers are physically configured. Are you using ICS (internet connection sharing) or are you just bridging the connections?

I am using ics do you think I would have better luck bridging them? and if so how?

With your ISP, bridging them probably wouldn't work anyway.

On both computers goto

start->run->"cmd"->enter->"ipconfig /all"->enter

Post up the full output for both computers if you can by right clicking on the title bar of the command window and clicking edit, select all, then edit, copy... you can then paste it where ever.

the first one is with the dns set to automatic and the second is where we are
able to ping the internet from her machine but not with the word

set the DNS on the second to 24.158.63.28

ICS does provide its own DNS service, but there is really no need to use it.
