My computer is directly connected to a router that provides it's internet and networking with the rest of the computers in my house. About 3 times a day, it will quickly lose connection...say a network connection is unplugged...then it will take a minute to reconnect, but for the rest of the time my computer is active it says it is "acquiring network address." I have to restart to get the connection back to normal. Really strange, any help?

Does this problem occur only on your PC?

If you have an extra cat5 cable around, try exchanging it see if your problem is resolved.

Try chaning network cards by switching them from a computer which is usable.

well i don't know if this makes any sense...but I turned off windows firewall and the problem went away. Any reasons why this would happen?

Maybe Windows Firewall thinks that a virus is entering the computer, but it is just the DHCP information.

Well, I spoke too soon. The problem came back only 3 hours later...i just haven't had the time to write in here. Any more ideas?

Do what I said in the previous post.
Try changing network cards by switching them from a computer which is usable.

What ver of windows does the problem computer run? Do you have the latest drivers for the network adapter in that computer? I'm guessing you have the router setup to do dhcp for the network?
