I'm having this problem on my HP desktop computer that is throughly confusing and frustrating me.

I reformated the hard drive, and only installed the D-Link wireless card drivers, and Mozilla Firefox for maximum speed. All seemed to be well. I turn on my computer and it says I am connected at 56 mbps. Great. Internet works. I go to breakfast. I come back. No internet. What the..? It says I am connected and the signal strength is "good". Mozilla and IE both "cannot find server".

- ping doesn't work either. I don't understand.
-"Repair Connection" does not work. The only thing that works is rebooting.
-Router IP is 192.168.1.1 I believe.

I have another computer with a D-Link wireless card and it works perfect. Any suggestions?

On your computer goto

start->run->"cmd"->enter->"ipconfig /all"->enter

Post up the full output the computer if you can by right clicking on the title bar of the command window and clicking edit, select all, then edit, copy... you can then paste it where ever.

I am having the almost exact same problem.

My wifes PC is an internet ready POS. was always restarting and acting crazy. Wiped the drive, reinstalled windows xp, and installed the software for lynksys adapter for wireless connection.

No I get practically same problem as OP in that my adapter is pinging just fine using the ipconfig, and its connected lovely to the router but no internet.. the linksys tech guy, after much ...discussion blamed in on a winsock and kicked me to the curb. any suggestions?

truley,
David

Please don't use 192.168.1.1 as a proxy server. Routers do not provide proxy servers and you will only make your connection impossible.

What router/access point do you use.
