Hey, I have this script called Autoresponderunlimited and I do not know how to use it. In the install guide it says :

""""The first thing that you need to do is to determine which page of your website will be the activation page.
The activation page is the one which will “activate” your autoresponder scripts to work. In our experience,
the best page to become your activation page is your homepage which is the most frequently visited
page of your website.

After you have determined which is your activation page, edit this page and paste the following scripts
anywhere between the <body> and <body > tags of your HTML.

<img src=http://www.yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/autoresponder/activate.cgi
width=1 height=1 border=0>

Do not upload yet this webpage. You will still need add your subscription box in this webpage. Just
remember, this is called your activation page. """""

I have put that code into my homepage I am no expert at this but I was wondering why it says <img src> for a cgi file because I thought they were information files not images.

To install this do I have to install anything extra into my hosting account to support the files?

Here are the main files I got with the Autoresponder Unlimited package:

config.cgi
activate.cgi
ar.cgi
Lite.pm

and it says the only one I need to edit is config.cgi.

also I uploaded the activate.cgi file to my account and opened it and it was just loads of writing which I dont think its supposed to look like.

Anyone know what to do?

anything with a .cgi suffix should go into your cgi-bin folder for your host. They are server side scripts designed to do something,not show a page.

Hard to say where "lite.pm" should go without seeing the content of the file. I'd suspect also in the cgi-bin folder.

And don't worry about the image tag. Install it as it says to.

Hi. I have the same responder, and it wasn't that hard to install it, even though I'm not very good at these things. The code
<img src=http://www.yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/autoresponder/activate.cgi
width=1 height=1 border=0>
is to run the responder everytime someone comes to your webpage, that' all it does, never mind the img src.
When you get it working let me know, because it's not working as it should with me.
Someone signs up, I get a message from the admin that this person has signed up. The I get a message everytime someone on my list has got a another newsletter from the responder. So far so good, the problem is they never get any email! Anyone who got a clue to this problem? I should also say that if I sign up myself I get the newsletters as I should. Please help my with this, since otherwise it's a neat responder to work with.

Hello, I'm new. Can anyone tell me what or where the cgi-bin folder is located?

Thanks,
Cynthia Jane
