Linux based video editing card and software recommendations required

Hello everyone,
i work in a video production company where we edit dramas and stuff, we are currently using Windows Xp as an os Adobe Premier Pro as the editing software and Matrox or Snazzi card for video editing, i just wanted to know if there is any video editing or capture card for linux do the job that matrox and snazzi do(i.e capture via firewire and export to tape in compressed or normal format) and is there any editing software for linux that is equal or similar to Adobe Premier.
I want to switch to linux so that everything can be free (except the video card) cause i definately want to have a break from windows cause its buggy and macintosh's are too costly to buy

You will not find a program equivalent to Adobe Premier for linux (at least not yet), however there are some video editing apps available. Check this site, it contains some very useful information pertaining to linux and video editing: http://www.robfisher.net/video/

Also check here: http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content...ting_linux.htm

Best of luck to you, I hope you can get something worked out.
