Looking for a new router

http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?id=4892 - Netgear rangemax 240

Anyone used one of these or has got anything similar that they can recomend? I have got a Linksys Wireless G Broadband router at the mo, but its on its last legs and is slowly becoming useless.

The 240Mbps transfer will only help with local network filetransfers and gaming... it won't actually improve internet gaming. You should also be aware that to get the speed, you'll need to have their equipment on your computer as well since it is a proprietary protocol.

I game on a WRT54G from Linksys and it works just fine.

Thanks, I knew about the transfer speeds.

I was mainly wondering about the 10x extra range and elimination of blackspots that mimo quote. Also the 50% extra range when using a 802.11g wireless card.

All wireless technologies are suseptible blackspots. I wish I could give you some sort of reliable information on how well this netgear performs in that respect, but their technical documentation doesn't list the antenna power or gain. I know the MIMO tech is reliable but it is also extremely proprietary so it has a few more problems than the original G specs.

I went and bought the Netgear Rangemax WPN824 today. Can't really compare it to my linksys because my linksys was on its last legs. All I can say is i've pinged it for ages now (over 2000 packets sent) and the average ping is 1ms with a 0% loss. My router is downstairs, about 10 metres away from my room (which is upstairs) and through a wall. So it seems to be much better than before.
