How to install Linux....

Hey guy i downloaded ubuntu..
since my win xp pro sp2 is running slow.
i was wondering how to install linux over it.????

If you want to install ubuntu over windows (ie: wipe out windows completely), during the installation, when it gets to the partitioning step (I believe step 5), just choose to use the entire hard disk. This will create a large '/' (root) partition, and a smaller 'swap' (virtual memory) partition.

I would recommend, however, that you resize your windows partition and install ubuntu on the free space created. This way you can 'dual boot' between ubuntu and windows, this also gives you the oppurtunity to go back to windows if you have trouble setting something up in linux.
