Router Trouble

So I just used that nifty Hidden Restore Partition of HP's and thus lost everything on my computer. I'm attempting to reconnect to the Internet, but as I have no idea what I'm doing, it's not going well. I have Windows XP and broadband. The main computer is still successfully connected to the Internet through a linksys router and I'm now trying to set up the linksys adapter to the recently restored comp. I hooked it up in the USB as it was before, installed the software and pretty much followed the included instructions. It now says I have a "Very Good" connection to the Internet, however, I cannot load anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm going to assume this is a wireless connection... does the wireless network use any form of encryption?

Yes, it is wireless and yes, it is encrypted. How, why, or what that means, I have no idea.
