Hi Everyone, Sorry if this sounds like a stupid or strange question but I will ask anyway! Is a lap-top able to connect to the internet without wires? i.e wireless and if so, does it need any equipment like a router for example. And also, can wireless connection be as fast as broadband. Am asking cos I connected my friend's lap-top to internet but she has a dial-up connection and pc says that is configured for wireless. Would appreciate any help, am pretty clued up about pcs but not lap-tops!!!:dizzy:

Well, like any internet connection you need an ISP... unless you live in Albuquerque (http://www.cabq.gov/wifi/) or similar you can't really just connect wirelessly to the internet. You need to connect to a wireless access point with an internet connection (usually a router connected to a broadband connection).

Sorry, wireless is a network connection and will not speed
up dial up access.
If you want broadband, you will have to get a broardband account
with your ISP.
OOPS,I'm slow.
