What does this saying mean?

"When a deposit bottle is broken, you don't get your nickel back."

- From Death of a Salesman.

Cheers.

6d a Corona bottle when I was a kid
(NOTE FOR AMERICAN VIEWERS, Corona was a UK brand of pop [soda pop to you guys?] not some putrid mexican beer that is so rank you need to wedge a lime down the neck to make vaguely palatable).

I think, young tom, it is alluding to the fact that once you've cocked something up badly, there is no going back.

Point of accuracy, Renegade600 is neither as tall nor as smiley as Mr Dee.

Corona is the top imported beer in the U.S.
