Trouble with wireless connections?

Hello all,

I figured I would try and tap into your brains to see if you can help me.

For the past few days I have had trouble keeping my connection to the internet through my wireless router. The problem I am having is staying connected to the internet, If I am online I keep getting dropped. I get a message that say it is searching for an IP address.

I am now connected via ethernet and I have NO problems it stays connected and I don't drop service.

Do you think it is my computer or the wireless router?

What brand/model of router?

One simple thing to try is going to the 'power management' settings in th eproperties for the wireless netword card and make sure the setting that tells windows its ok to disable the card to save power is off.

For some reason it seems that windows will disable a device even though it shouldn't be in power save mode. The only affect this will have on your system is that you may not be able to run as long on battery.
