Fedora does not include mp3 player support by default for legal reasons, you can find the guide for installing mp3 support here.

http://www.fedorafaq.org/#mp3

For audio files, XMMS is a rather nice app similar to WinAmp on windows. Amarok is also really nice, with many features added for mp3 players.

For videos, I usually install mplayer, xine, and vlc.

after i create the directory /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES manually it gives the error

[root@localhost ~]# rpm -Uvh xmms-1.2.10-1.src.rpm

warning: group havardk does not exist - using root

Instead of using an rpm or tar package, use yum.
