not really intelligent when it comes to computers and what is the best products out look at reviews on stuff but dont' know what i can really take from em i want to get a new monitor like a flatscreen and want it to be nice enough to be a tv for my room thinking like something at least twenty inch i have a computer that is six years old i am pretty sure and want to be able to watch tv running my cable through my computer or to my monitor or whatever i do so will need to upgrade my pc do i need a new video card or wintv i'm so lost am i just better off getting a new computer cause it really runs alright and have an external drive to save all my files on i dunno kinda clueless hopefully you can give me some ideas of what i need to do or should buy i appreciate any help or suggestions or maybe a link to somewhere i can find what i need

A new PC does sound the best option because all the hardware should be compatible and good enough to do the tasks you want.


To output TV you need a graphics card with a TV out.

To view TV on your PC then you need an input or capture device. This could be a dedicated TV card, a graphics card with TV in or an external device such as products from dazzle or hauppauge.

To record TV then you need a decent spec. Fast, big HDD. RAM. Good CPU.
