Can anyone tell me if it is possible to add a second hard drive to a HP4530

It will most definately be POSSIBLE to add a further IDE device but not easy.

No spare 3 1/2" mounts in this mini-tower case though.
You will probably need to mount it in the spare 5 1/4" bay (underneath the CD-Rom drive) which will mean you need a 5 1/4' - 3 1/2" drive bay adapter.
Knowing HP, your IDE ribbon cable probably only has one connector so you'll need one with two (primary & slave).

im not for sure but as far as i know you can add one to any pc,hope it helps

Each IDE channel is capable of communicating with two devices, a Master and a Slave, so between your Primary and Secondary channels you can have four devices such as Hard Disks, CD Drives and Zip Drives. You just have to make sure that they're jumpered properly for Master, Slave, or Single and that (especially on systems like HP) you have enough power to run all these things.
