Norton AntiVirus Microsoft Office Plug-In

I would like to get the opinions of other members regarding Norton AntiVirus' Microsoft Office Plug-In which initiates when you open an Office program. With Auto Protection enabled, is this extra check really necessary? With the plug-in enabled, Office programs take a much longer time to open. I currently have Norton SystemWorks 2006 installed on my computer with Windows XP Home, and Norton AntiVirus 2006 installed on computers at my church with Windows XP Pro.

Norton AntiVirus Office Plug-in is well known for causing conflicts with MS Office applications, particularly Word. You do not put your documents at risk by disabling the plug-in.
