System crash when closing application
Hi,
I've used Win2000 pro as my OS for nearly two years, with no problems until Last summer when I accidentally released a worm in the system (I wasn't running an anti-virus app at the time just ZoneAlarm.) It was so bad that I was forced to f/disk and format. Since then, however, whenever I run an app like a Norton full-system scan in the background, or as I did just now alone, or Stomp Click'n'Burn Pro 2.0, for example, for any length of time, when I close it I get the blue screen error message: STOP: 0x000 D (0xBFE31312, 0x00000002, 0x0000000, 0xBFE31312) DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL ADDRESS BFDCC312 base at BFD99000, DateStamp 3ac09bbb - ALXWDM.sys (twice this time) Now I know that ALXWDM.sys is the driver for the sound card. And I suspect a device conflict since this driver and several others are on IRQ 11. I tried opening Win2000 in safe mode but, since I downloaded service pack 3, it's in MSDOS and I don't know the prompts so I'm unsure of how to do a "last best configuation(?)". I'm to the point where re-formatting is the only solution I can think of. |

It may be caused by a corrupt file or the 'wrong version' of a file.
See this on how to do an emergency repair: http://support.microsoft.com/isapi/s...IRQLNtLssOrEql |

Thanks.
If this ever happens again I now know what to do. |
