How do I uninstall when I cant log in to my desk top!?

Hi, my first time on here.
I have just tried installing my new F-Secure 2006 Internet Security onto my laptop.
To start with nothing would work so I rebooted a few times, eventually it worked but everything was extremely slow so I rebooted again, now it lets me log in but doesnt get as far as my desktop so I cant even uninstall the software!
I am having to use my old desktop based pc to try and resolve the problem as my laptop is useless!

I did discover on F-Secure's website that I should have deleted my old Norton first, but it didnt say that on the cover the disc came in, how useless is that!?

I am hoping there is a back way in via DOS or something but I have no idea how to do it. I have an Acer Aspire 6310 with Windows XP bought through Laptops Direct who only offer support for 7 days after purchase!

Have you tried booting into Safemode and running System Restore?

To boot into Safemode restart the computer and tap the F8 key before the Windows Logo.
