I still get the server messages sometimes (Firefox 1.5.0.5), is this just me or is it true for everyone?
PS: I know what some of you guys are thinking. ;) "maybe it was on purpose" or something like that

What server messages ? Your ISPs DNS is probably updating. ipconfig /flushdns

The message that says something like "Dear CTH Members and Guests..." Sorry about the poor wording on my last post. I just had some network problems but managed to flush the DNS and so far, so good, thanks! I didn't think of that.
Other than that, everything looks great! :)

Nothing amiss here and the load times for the pages are as fast as the blink of an eye.

I'm still getting the message sometimes. I guess I'll wait to see if it will fix itself.

The forums are actually loading slower for me, though my source probably isn't very reliable (my source is a laptop where the HDD is 20% bad blocks).
EDIT: I suppose it might be a temporary issue caused by the lack of CTH cache in my ISP, meaning I have to get all the site resources straight from across the globe. I'll let you know if it speeds up over time.

Not sure if this is unintentional but, when you click on Operating Systems, Hardware, Software, General, Other, in the forum jump tabs it will just reload the home page.
I checked all frequented links used in forum and, all links on the home page everything responded correctly aside from the "Select a Forum" tab.

start/control panel/Local Network/ "whatever you are connected to in here"/ support tab/repair
Usually fixes cache problems pc side or just nucked up internet problems. Don't rely on it all the time tho.

Email responses are far faster now. I always had a problem with that with several different ISP's, seem to be almost instant now.

I'd already cleared checked everything my end Vercades, but don't worry it's back to normal speed now. Not noticing any increase though. Has anybody actually measured the new speeds? I suspect there may be a placebo bias.

Has anybody actually measured the new speeds? I suspect there may be a placebo bias. I use Firefox with the Fasterfox extension that shows page load times in the task bar. Sometimes pages load for me so fast it's like they're loading from cache, but they're not. I haven't recorded any actual numbers but with my dsl connection many pages load in under 2 seconds. It was never that fast before.

Is the new server really that much better?

August 2nd, 2006, 10:20 AM
A caching utility is being used on the new server.
dudeking
August 2nd, 2006, 10:30 AM
So will that decrease page load times?

August 2nd, 2006, 10:33 AM

Pages and initial front page even loads faster for me. My high speed radio controlled internet, was and is slower at times, then dsl or cable but CTH loads faster than it did before the switch. Thanks Mishy. ;)

It's an absolute dream now, not getting the page formatting errors I was occasionaly getting from behind the nokia firewall in work (always had an alternate route ready for such instances ;) )
